for Dance and Electronics [3'29''] (2023)
“Meng” explores the theme of vulnerability in relationships through the use of electronics. The piece was inpired by the ancient Chinese poem, Meng, from the Classic of Poetry, which tells a story from the perspective of a woman suffering from domestic violence within her marriage. While the poem primarily presents the narrative voice of a woman in an abusive relationship, such dynamics can occur between any individuals. Through this composition, I hope to highlight this struggle, raise awareness, and encourage those in similar situation to find the strength to break free from such destructive circumstances.
for Electronics [4'42''] (2020)
During the time I was studying electronic music production, I created 10 original sound patches in Logic Pro X. I named them “Bipolar”, “Schizophrenia”, “Decidophobia”, “Depression”, and “Procrastination” in one set, and “Helicopter Bass”, “Tinnitus Wave”, “Nightmare Monster”, “Ghostly Wind”, and “Wandering Spector” in another. As the names would suggest, this piece aims to explore the darker side of the mental state, which is a theme
that is significant to me as a composer, and one, about which I hope to raise more awareness. 1 also used one preset patch called “Water Drop Stickers”.
